The Lake Lans
The Lake Lans is a moorland lake above Innsbruck. It is known for its water, which can reach temperatures of up to 25 degrees Celsius, offering swimming with a panoramic mountain view. As the area is privately owned, access to the lido, which includes a children’s pool, zip line, and nudist area, is only possible with an exclusive entrance fee.
If you want to escape the hustle and bustle of Innsbruck, the best thing to do is drive a little way up towards the Patscherkofel mountain. There, on the sunny plateau near Lans, lies Lake Lans. It’s one of those places you simply have to see: nestled in a postcard-perfect landscape of mountains and forests, at a proud 840 meters above sea level.
Since the lake is privately owned and completely fenced in, access is only possible with an entrance fee, but the entire area is impeccably maintained. While the price is somewhat higher than at a regular public swimming pool, it transforms a day at the lake into a mini, exclusive getaway.
It’s a true moorland lake , fed by fresh groundwater and the nearby water lily pond. Covering an area of approximately 2.7 hectares (roughly the size of four football fields), it offers plenty of space for swimmers and those simply wanting to relax. Here are a few key facts for those of you who are curious:
- Depth: At its deepest point, it goes down to 10 meters .
- Dimensions: The lake is approximately 220 meters long and 160 meters wide.
- Shore: A walk around the perimeter is short at approximately 600 meters, but beautiful thanks to the idyllic natural surroundings.
It’s primarily this combination of fresh mountain air and soft moorland water that makes Lake Lans a favorite spot for many locals. Here, you swim in a pool created by Mother Nature herself – complete with panoramic views of the surrounding peaks. Whether for a quick dip or a whole day in the sun, the setting is simply unbeatable for relaxation.
Swimming in Lake Lans
In the height of summer, the water temperature often climbs to a pleasant 25°C – perfect for cooling off without getting a cold shock. It’s a moorland lake , so don’t be surprised by its dark color and relatively low visibility. That’s not a flaw, but rather a natural phenomenon! The moorland water is actually quite healthy and a real treat for your skin. If you’re looking for even more relaxation, there are regular yoga, shiatsu, and qigong classes right on the shore.
While some doze in the sun on the spacious lawns, those who are more active can work up a sweat playing table tennis or other sports. Swimming lessons are even offered for anyone who wants to improve their technique.
What many people don’t know: The lake is ecologically extremely valuable. The water comes from the nearby water lily pond and from groundwater springs. The quality is strictly monitored and has consistently been top-notch (good to excellent) in recent years . So you can swim your laps and enjoy nature without any worries.
